This Primer is specially formulated to reduce any "beading" of our Air Dry Paints on the vinyl surface of reborn baby kits. 

It aids with a smoother application of initial coats of paint washes.

Do I HAVE to use a primer?

No. The SCN paint range is designed to adhere extremely well to vinyl. They will not crack or peel and won't rub off (when applied to clean, dirt and oil free vinyl parts.)

Why would I want to use the primer?

SCN paints are air dry paints - they dry and cure (set or harden) in air. They are water based. This means that the pigment paint powders (the actual colour in paint) and the base mediums are mixed with distilled water. Water is not totally "happy" to sit on vinyl surfaces and it can "bead". This occurs when you paint a diluted, water based paint (as in thin washes of colour needed to build up the look of realistic skin/flesh when reborning) on vinyl. The paint can appear to separate (leave gaps) or even form little droplets/beads of paint. 

Is "beading" a sign of a problem with the paint?

No. It is a normal process and easily "fixed". The water just carries the paint pigment and mediums. By pouncing with a Kabuki brush, stencil brush or sponge you easily "break up" and disperse the beads allowing an even spread of the paint pigments. The water always disappears as it dries and the pigments bond perfectly and permanently with the vinyl.

How does the SCN primer help?

The primer helps the water in the paint washes to cover and spread over the vinyl with little or no beading at all. This makes it much easier to get an even coat on the first few washes. It makes the vinyl surface far more receptive to water based paints. Coverage is instantly much smoother.
